The Last Book of Wonder
Sold
Boston: John W. Luce & Co., 1916. S.H. Sime. First / Later. Hardback. A very good copy, lacking the jacket. Collect 19 short stories. There are some notes online about first impressions requiring a 'D' watermark, but I can find no further reference to this. That said, Luce apparently should have the same date on both sides of the title page. The present copy has no date on the recto, suggesting a later impression. Lord Dunsany (1878-1957) was a prolific writer and one of the architects of what has now cemented itself as the fantasy genre. His work, along with Eddison, Macdonald and Morris, was key in creating the channels from folklore and mythology to entirely synthetic secondary worlds. Very Good. Item #13358
