London: Brown Langham & Co., 1905. First / First. Hardback. A very good copy. An important entry in the sf canon. A soldier is swept from Earth to Mars, where strange civilisations and planetary adventure await. Bearing a striking resemblance to Burroughs' A Princess of Mars, which it precedes by 12 years, it has over the years been seen as an early influence in planetary romances as they were known. Lacking the jacket, presuming there was one. A little sunned to the spine and some bumping to the spine tips. Top edge dusty, with some spotting to the prelims. A presentable copy overall. Very Good.
