Yonkers, NY: The Arlington Chemical Co., n.d. [1896?]. First / First. Paperback. Very good condition. A marvellous little promotional piece that happens to also be a fairly well-written departure into interplanetary fiction. Our protagonist is sent to the red planet to help the locals with their digestive issues. The Martians mainly live of things like sea-water soup and bee stingers rolled in sawdust, so a hearty drink of beef, milk, wheat mixed with alcohol and cocaine is offered as a solution. 20pp, die cut, as though a little burnt (purportedly an electrical storm). The only real issue is that one page has had a corner clipped off with loss of text. It's odd as it's just one page clipped and not the leaf, and it's sliced neatly. The red ink overlay has been applied afterwards, so almost certainly a printing issue. A fantastic little item. Very Good. Item #13414
