This British children's comic first issued in December 1937 is currently the longest running comic in the world. A successful rival to The Beano, The Dandy sported Korky the Cat on its front cover for almost 50 years. In September 2004 a first issue of The Dandy, with free gift, sold for a record £20,350, the highest price ever paid for a British comic at an auction.
