Maurice and Edward Retold were brothers who collaborated in illustrating, exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1897 when they were only 13 years old. They worked together until the suicide of Maurice, aged only 24. Edward continued illustrating books until the late 1920s, committing suicide himself in 1957.
