(b.1912 d.1988)

An American cartoonist with a dark sense of humour who is best known for creating the Addams Family. This macabre family first made an appearance in 1938, but Morticia, Gomez et al only received their names when christened by the makers of the 1960s TV series. Most of Addams' cartoons appeared first in magazines, notably the New Yorker.
